David Kalec was in the sport of diving for 14 years and has represented Canada in several international competitions. He finished off his career at Texas A&M University, where he had received a full scholarship for his diving. Once retired, David was looking for something to fill the gap of working out with team mates in an atmosphere that pushes you to your limit, producing results. Working out at traditional gyms, even with friends, simply didn’t have that same friendly competition that drives you to perform. After trying CrossFit in 2008, David instantly fell in love with it. The concept is truly amazing and no where else can you find a program that builds your strength so quickly and keep you in the best shape of your life. And as all workouts are scaleable to everyone’s needs, sometimes that even means being beat by a 65 year old lady! In the summer of 2009, David visited his old team at Texas A&M University and surprised everyone (himself included) when he performed his old dives on 10 meter better than he used to, 4 years prior. |

David Henry was born and raised in Ottawa. He has been in the Canadian Forces as an Infantry Reservist since 2005 and has deployed to Afghanistan as a Close Protection Operator in 2011. David’s quest for fitness began in Globogyms doing bicep curls and leg extensions but he soon realized its failings during a military fitness competition. He discovered CrossFit in 2007 and never looked back. David holds a diploma in Police Foundations and degree in Social Sciences with a concentration in Criminology. He obtained his CrossFit Level 1 Certification in 2009 and CrossFit Runner Training Course in 2011. Robin Cotê has been involved in CrossFit since December 2009. Robin is a student at the University of Ottawa, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and is now studying Population Health Risk Assessment and Management. A former couch potato, Robin started on his journey towards fitness through boot camp style fitness, but after a while, he had a yearning for something more; something a bit “outside the box” of the typical gym experience. With the group atmosphere, the intensity of the workouts, the personal physical development and quality of the staff, CrossFit has proven to be the perfect match. In addition to CrossFit, Robin currently regularly enjoys boxing and road racing. Since joining CrossFit, he has found an appreciation for adventure sport and has a desire to strive to improve all aspects of conditioning. |

A lifetime athlete; she has worked with body builders across North America, at Gold’s gym in Los Angeles, with Johnny Lats in New York, and more recently with J.M. Henrieta holds a black belt in Shotokan Karate Do and was a competitive swimmer and gymnast in her youth. She earned her 200hr yoga instructor course from Upward Dog under Loren Crawford and founder Roxanne Joly.
